My First Time Fishing

Yes, that’s me at 5 years old with a cane pole in hand fishing for the very first time. I’m waiting for that little round, white, and red bobber, several feet from shore to do its dance. You know, bob up and down, move side to side, and with some luck, be pulled under the water by a fish. Heck, after all the hook was baited with a chunky piece of night crawler, which I dug up the evening before and put in an old coffee can full of dirt ready for this day.

I sit and wait for the bobber to move. Then, the little bobber finally goes under making the pole in my hands shake. I gave a short tug on the cane pole and the fish was hooked. I did it! I hooked my first fish. Now for me, the best part of fishing was about to happen. This is when you get to feel the fight of the fish you just hooked and then bring in your catch. In my case, it was a bluegill about 4 inches long, fighting at the end of my line. The experience I had on that day was so exciting for me and to say the least, fishing has been a passion of mine ever since. You can visit my blog and social media accounts to learn more about myself and the passion I have for fishing.
